Julius Randle's career night against the Portland Trail Blazers may have been wasted because they failed to get the win, but he remains very positive about everything.

Randle finished with a career-high 46 points, to go along with 11 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals. However, it wasn't enough to beat the Blazers who came away with a 122-110 win.

After the game, Randle was obviously upset, but he still came out during post-game interviews with a smile and told reporters that he was still proud of the effort the Pelicans have shown against the Blazers despite the defeat.

“I love basketball. Metta (World Peace) used to say that. I just love to play. We're blessed with the opportunity to be professionals at the highest level,” Randle said, per Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com.

Julius Randle has stepped up for the Pelicans since All-Star forward Anthony Davis demanded a trade from the team.

The five-year veteran seized the increased playing time, as he is currently putting up 21.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season. He's also shooting 52 percent from the field.

The Pelicans thought about trading Randle last month, but they eventually decided to keep him, knowing that Davis could very well be traded this summer. And Julius continues to repay the trust the franchise is giving him.

The former seventh overall pick is ready to take center stage — with or without Davis — with the Pelicans or some other team.
