Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis had some sort of a passing-of-the-torch moment with New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson after LA beat the Pels on Wednesday.

Davis met with Williamson and talked outside the Pelicans' locker room. AD was in the area after head coach Alvin Gentry invited him to meet his former teammates.

According to Davis, he only had a few words to say to Williamson — who is set to take over as the face of the franchise after his departure. The Lakers big man emphasized to Zion to “get healthy” as the Pelicans are waiting and holding on until his return.

“I told him to get healthy,” Davis said, per Marc J. Spears of Undefeated. “Obviously, they’re waiting on his return and they’re trying to hold on until he gets back.”

For what it's worth, Williamson is yet to play for the Pelicans as he recovers from the arthroscopic surgery he underwent over the summer. Despite him on the sidelines though, New Orleans is fighting hard with Brandon Ingram, Jrue Holiday and JJ Redick leading the way.

The Pelicans are 6-12 on the season, two and half games behind the eight-seeded Phoenix Suns.

Davis, for his part, is thriving since leaving the Pels. His Lakers are currently leading the NBA with a 16-2 record. Moreover, their nine-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the league today, tied with the Milwaukee Bucks.
