The New Orleans Pelicans are looking to add more depth to their guard rotation and will reportedly sign free agent Larry Drew II to a 10-day contract on Wednesday, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.

The 28-year-old UCLA product has been playing very this season for the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G-League, with averages of 11.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 30.7 minutes per game. His solid play has earned him a call up from the Pelicans, who want a source of energy and hustle off the bench and play behind Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday, givng head coach Alvin Gentry more options.

Drew went undrafted in the 2013 draft, but did not give up on his NBA dream. He took his talents to the G-League and worked his way to getting noticed by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2014-15 season, suiting up for them in 12 games. Last January, he once again signed with them, on a 10-day contract, appearing in three more games.

The 6-foot-2 playmaker should be available for the Pelicans as early as Thursday when they face the San Antonio Spurs. He is not expected to play a huge role for them, but whenever he is fielded in, it will give him an opportunity to prove his worth and that he deserves to play at the highest level. He can also earn another 10-day contract, or if everything goes according to plan for him, could even be signed to a guaranteed contract for the remainder of the season.
