Lonzo Ball's status for Wednesday night's matchup against the Lakers is now in question after the Pelicans star was sent home after Tuesday's practice session due to a stomach virus:

This is unfortunate news for the Pelicans, as Ball seemed to be rebounding nicely from the groin injury he sustained earlier this season. Now, however, this illness leaves his status for Wednesday night's games against his former team up in the air. Additional information with regards to his status should be provided after Wednesday's shootaround.

Ball was traded from the Lakers to the Pelicans as part of the Anthony Davis deal. The former UCLA standout has made 11 appearances with his new team (eight starts), racking up averages of 11.1 points on 38.7 percent shooting from the field (34.3 percent from beyond the arc), 5.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 27.1 minutes per outing.

If Ball is indeed ruled out for Wednesday's game, Frank Jackson, Jrue Holiday and JJ Redick would likely see upticks in their usage rates. Holiday played well over the weekend, notching 28 points, five rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in a 128-120 loss to the Jazz on Saturday.

Wednesday night's Pelicans-Lakers game is set to tip at 9:30 p.m. ET, with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.
