Lonzo Ball thinks the New Orleans Pelicans can be one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, and it's hard not to agree with the point guard.

The Pelicans have elite defenders in Jrue Holiday and Lonzo Ball, and athletic youngsters in Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Jaxson Hayes.

In his two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Ball defended point guards at a very high level. Adding Ball to the roster allows the Pelicans to give Holiday a break at times on defense since Lonzo has proven he can guard star players on the perimeter.

Zion Williamson is a freak of nature and will be able to use his nuclear athleticism to be a pest on defense. Jaxson Hayes showed in Summer League he might be the steal of the 2019 NBA Draft. A front-court of Williamson, Hayes and veteran Derrick Favors gives the Pelicans good depth and versatility.

Some believe New Orleans might be able to fight for a playoff spot in 2019-20. David Griffin did a tremendous job getting a great haul for Anthony Davis. Along with adding Favors for low post scoring, Griffin also signed sharpshooter JJ Redick, who is going to space the floor so well for the Pelicans, which will create more driving lanes for Zion, Holiday, Ball and Ingram.
