New Orleans Pelicans rookie Jaxson Hayes is on a mission to prove himself next season, and Orlando Magic center Mo Bamba believes he can do just that.

Bamba has nothing but high praises for his fellow Texas Longhorns product and expressed his belief that Hayes will do well in his first season in the NBA.

“He’s just a freak of nature,” Bamba said of Hayes, per Cody Taylor of USA Today. “He is 7-foot but he can really jump and really move. I’m excited to see what he does. I just told him how the league is, how much more goes into it than college. Jaxson has a good head on his shoulders so I think he is going to do well.”

While most of the talk surrounding the Pelicans are about the potential of 2019 first overall pick Zion Williamson, Hayes is someone that people should really keep an eye on. He may not be as hyped as Zion, but he's an athletic big who can run and move quickly. The eighth pick of the 2019 draft has also shown the potential to be a great rim protector.

Hayes is expected to play a big role for the Pelicans next season. New Orleans is focused on letting their young core grow together, and there's no doubt he'll fit in perfectly fine with what the franchise is building at the moment.

It may not look like it now, but Bamba believes that Hayes will surprise a lot of people in 2019-20.
