The New Orleans Pelicans are adding forward Troy Williams to their roster. According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, Williams and the Pellies have agreed to a deal.

Free agent forward Troy Williams has agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources tell Yahoo. Williams played 17 games for the Knicks last season.

Williams appeared in this year’s edition of the NBA Summer League, appearing in five games for the New York Knicks and coming up with averages of 11.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 20.6 minutes per outing.

Williams went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft but has played 51 combined games with three different teams, namely the Memphis Grizzlies, the Houston Rockets, and the New York Knicks. He signed a two-year deal worth $1.76 million last March, but got waived last week. He has career averages of 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in the NBA. He is a career 44.9 percent shooter from the field and owns a poor 29.0 3-point shooting percentage.

In New Orleans, Williams is not expected to see plenty of minutes on the floor, except during garbage times and when those ahead of him in the small forward pecking order are in foul troubles.

Williams won the 2017 NBA D-League Slam Dunk Contest.
