The New Orleans Pelicans have parted ways with director of player personnel David Booth.

According to The Athletic Pelicans beat writer Will Guillory, it was a mutual decision on the part of both sides.

TheAdvocate.com's Nathan Brown confirmed Booth's departure from the organization on Tuesday. Booth was with the team for almost nine years. He started out as a regional scout for the then-New Orleans Hornets.

Booth eventually became the Hornets' director of scouting in April 2013. Three short months later, they made him their director of player personnel, per Brown.

Booth's departure from the Pelicans is one of several shakeups within the  team's front office in recent months. Several weeks after All-Star power forward/center Anthony Davis' trade request, the Pelicans fired general manager Dell Demps.

An ESPN report (via TheAdvocate.com) reveals the Pelicans wanted either special advisor Danny Ferry or Booth to replace Demps on an interim basis. The former eventually got the nod.

New Orleans then tapped former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin to become its vice president of basketball operations, per Brown. Griffin helped the Cavs win their first NBA title three years ago.

Just two days before Booth left the Pelicans, they hired Trajan Langdon as their new general manager. Langdon worked for the Cavs' front office during Griffin's tenure as GM in the 2015-16 season, per TheAdvocate.com.

Langdon and Griffin told reporters during a recent conference call they see themselves “getting the right people on the bus” for the Pelicans.

One cornerstone New Orleans will build on is the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft next month (which could be Duke Blue Devils forward Zion Williamson). New Orleans won the NBA draft lottery on May 14.
