The New Orleans Pelicans made waves on Thursday night as they officially acquired top draft prospect Zion Williamson as the first overall pick. Aside from their Zion coup, though, the Pelicans were also able to scoop up a number of other prospects throughout the draft, which obliged fellow New Orleans sports franchise, the New Orleans Saints, to send a congratulatory shout out via Twitter.

The Saints even posted a Photoshopped image of Williamson in NFL gear, which quite honestly, actually looks quite befitting for the 18-year-old's 6-foot-7, 285-pound frame.

Aside from Zion, however, the Pelicans were also able to acquire Texas big man Jaxson Hayes using the eighth overall pick (via the Atlanta Hawks) and Virginia Tech swingman Nickell Alexander-Walker at the 17th spot (via the Brooklyn Nets and the Hawks). Both guys should land a significant role in the squad in the coming season, with the team fixed on focusing on the development of their youth.

In the second round, New Orleans also added one more guy in the form of Marcos Louzada Silva, a Brazilian small forward, also via the Hawks.

All in all, it was definitely a very successful evening for the Pelicans, who are looking like quite an exciting team to watch in the upcoming season. New Orleans is doing their best to move on from the recent Anthony Davis deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, and their moves on draft night were definitely steps towards the right direction in this respect.
