After shooting guard Jordan Crawford played in only two games back in October for the New Orleans Pelicans before he was waived, it was reported on Twitter by ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday afternoon that the Pelicans have decided to sign him again for the rest of the 2017-18 season.

The news of Crawford's signing comes after point guard Larry Drew II had his second 10-day contract with the team expire after the Pelicans' 123-95 blowout victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

Crawford's addition to the Pelicans was also made in an announcement on the team's official website:

“The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has signed guard Jordan Crawford. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed,” the Pelicans said.

Crawford played in 19 games for the Pelicans last season and averaged 14.1 points on 48.2 percent shooting from the field, 3.0 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game after he sat out the entire 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

After he was drafted No. 27 overall in 2010 by the New Jersey Nets, Crawford has appeared in 278 career regular season games with five teams: the Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, and New Orleans.

Despite such a short time with the Pelicans, Crawford instantly became a fan favorite in New Orleans after joining the team late in the 2016-17 season. He earned the nickname “Instant Grits” because of his ability to come off the bench and score at will.
