The New Orleans Pelicans are looking to lessen the likelihood of  Zion Williamson re-injuring himself. Apart from rehabbing his knee, the organization is also teaching its prized rookie on how to walk and run differently.

According to Andrew Lopez of ESPN, Williamson has already started working his way back by doing some individual and group drills. He has yet to participate in 3-on-3 or 5-on-5 practices.

Moreover, besides the team making sure that he is 100 percent healthy before returning, Williamson shared that the Pelicans are applying different measures to protect his health.

Williamson told Sedano that he “trusts the organization” in its decision-making and said that his rehab process has been about more than just the recovery from surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee.

The 19-year-old also said the Pelicans are trying to teach him how to walk and run differently — working on the kinetic chain of his body.

People have noticed Williamson's rather awkward gait. While there is no legitimate medical report on how it affects his legs, various analysts believe that it could affect him in the long run. Nonetheless, the fact that the Pelicans are looking to fix this confirms their hunch.

Time will only tell if the Duke standout will play in the 2019-20 season. But if the Pelicans opts to let him sit out the entire year, then it would be completely understandable.

Williamson is a once in a generation type of athlete. The Pelicans do not want to blow this opportunity.
