New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry has provided another update on the status of rookie sensation Zion Williamson, but unfortunately for the rest of us, there has been no indication of the 20-year-old is anywhere near his return to the court.

As usual, no firm timetable has been given on Williamson's potential debut date, and on the contrary, Gentry even reiterated the fact that the Pelicans have no sense of urgency in terms of allowing their prized youngster take the court.

This is more of another non-update here with Gentry being very non-specific yet again about the exact progress Zion has been making in his road to recovery. Quite frankly, it has been somewhat frustrating for fans at this point, with no clear target date set yet for the NBA debut of one of the most highly-touted players of recent time.

Nevertheless, it's hard to argue against New Orleans' logic here. There's absolutely no reason for them to rush Williamson's return, especially considering the fact that the first overall pick is dealing with a knee issue. As Gentry said, they will need to be extra careful in dealing with this injury, as any setback might have a long-term effect on the health of their future cornerstone superstar.

The Pelicans have had a terrible start to the new season, and are currently in possession of a 6-20 record. They are just a game and a half ahead of the league-worst Golden State Warriors (5-22), and with New Orleans' rest of the season outlook looking absolutely bleak, this serves as further motivation for the team to hold out Zion as long as they possibly could/should.
