Nikola Mirotic has been one of the better power forwards in the NBA this season. This season, Mirotic is averaging 16.8 points and 6.4 rebounds. After a heated altercation, Bobby Portis punched Mirotic in the face, breaking bones in his jaw. Although both players made up, Mirotic was obviously going to be traded in the aftermath of the incident.

Fortunately, Mirotic has become a valuable contributor for the New Orleans Pelicans. His new team apparent is a good home for him and his teammates love him. According to Scott Kusher of the Advocate, Mirotic recently expressed that he loved playing in New Orleans.

Nikola Mirotic said “I love this group” mentioning the closeness in the #Pelicans locker room. Said he feels he’s been here for much longer than a month because of how he’s been welcomed.

The Pelicans have been an ideal home for Mirotic. The franchise is currently ranked seventh in the Western Conference and could use some help in their frontcourt now that Cousins won't be available for the rest of the season. Anthony Davis expressed what Mirotc brings to the Pelicans, per Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com.

“He’s been fitting in very well with us, shooting the ball very well, playing great defense, rebounding the basketball,” Davis said of Mirotic. “We just find a way to complement each other. He brings a lot to our team.”

The Pelicans are on the verge of making the postseason for the first time since 2015. Even if they succeed, they will likely face one of the best teams in the Western Conference. Though, Nikola Mirotic could be a potential problem for any postseason matchup.
