Director Spike Lee and NBA Hall of Famer Ray Allen want New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson to star in a “He Got Game” sequel.

During his recent appearance on The Encore, Lee said he and Allen were trying to get in touch with the Pelicans rising star before the COVID-19 pandemic, via Complex:

“We were trying to get a meeting with him [Zion Williamson] before [the coronavirus pandemic],” Spike Lee said. “Ray Allen and I were trying to get a meeting with him in New Orleans. I'm still for it. Ray and I have talked about this off-and-on for years.”

Lee directed the first “He Got Game” movie, while Allen starred in it alongside Denzel Washington.

Williamson projects to be the next NBA superstar, both on and off the court. His marketability is high due to his elite basketball skills. Seeing the Pelicans youngster on the big screens down the road wouldn't be that big of a surprise.

After all, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was in “Trainwreck” and he's starring in “Space Jam 2.” Of course, we can't forget Shaquille O'Neal's 1996 flick called “Kazaam.”

Williamson appeared in 19 games for the Pelicans before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19. The 2019 No. 1 overall pick averaged 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 58.9 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Despite missing the beginning of his pro career due to a knee injury, the sky appears to be the limit for Williamson as long as he stays healthy.
