New Orleans Pelicans star rookie Zion Williamson has gone on record saying that Thanos is his favorite character from the Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

In their game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, he rocked Thanos-inspired Jordan XXX4's.

Williamson definitely played like Thanos to the Blazers on Friday night. He top-scored for New Orleans with 25 points en route to a much-needed 128-115 road victory. The 2019 no. 1 overall pick went 10-of-17 from the field and added four rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 29 minutes.

Zion Williamson has been nothing short of spectacular since he made his NBA debut last month. Though he has only played 11 games, he is showing why he became such a highly-coveted prospect coming into the league.

Through his first month of NBA action, Williamson is averaging 22.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting 57.8 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from the freethrow line.

The Pelicans started out the season horribly with their first overall pick sidelined due to knee injury. However, New Orleans started picking their game up midway through December, and Williamson's debut has only invigorated the young group even more.

Now, with the win over Portland, the Pelicans just move within half a game behind the Blazers and the San Antonio Spurs, which are 9th and 10th in the Western Conference playoff race, respectively. However, they are still four games below the 8th seeded Memphis Grizzlies, which are led by no. 2 overall pick Ja Morant.

The Pelicans are still very much within striking distance, though. And if they continue on their hot streak with their star rookie leading the way, it's hard to count out this gritty New Orleans squad.
