Zion Williamson is an optimistic guy, but he can't help but be disappointed to another lackluster season for the New Orleans Pelicans.

After playing their final regular season game and finishing 11th in the West–just outside the play-in tournament spots–Williamson offered a rather harsh assessment of the team and their performance. While they looked like they were close to making it to the playoffs, the All-Star forward admitted that it's not really the case and they have a lot of things lacking to compete.

“I'm not going to sit here and say we're close,” Williamson said, per Christian Clark of NOLA.com. “The reality of it is it was very disappointing not to be a part of the play-in tournament and stuff. But we just have to come in and be better. That’s just me being real.”

However, Williamson is ready to move on as he shifts his focus on the offseason where they can address their roster issues and plays. He also issued a simple challenge for him and his Pelicans teammates: be better.

“But the best thing we can do is regroup, come together as a team, come together as coaches this offseason. Just talk and do what we need to do to be better next year. There’s not much to it. We just have to be better,” Zion added

Zion Williamson had a fine individual year, making his first All-Star appearance in just his sophomore season. However, he knows that he can't win a title alone and it must be a team effort. This is also the reason why he reveals his plan to spend more time with Brandon Ingram in the offseason, as they look to further strengthen their partnership and fulfill their potential as a dangerous one-two punch.

Williamson is hungry, and hopefully, the rest of the Pelicans are as well.
