With only a few days away before the latest installment of the reigning king of basketball simulations NBA 2K20 hits store shelves, its developer 2K Sports is hyping its release by counting down with some fast facts about the game. To get things started, they revealed which player has the highest dunk rating – and it's the New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson.

This decision surely will prove to be controversial considering that Williamson has yet to play a single game (unless a solid half of preseason action counts) and there are several high-flying veterans in The Association that probably deserve this distinction more. Nonetheless, it's not a rating without any substantial basis.

Given Williamson's lack of a dependable perimeter game, the undersized power forward is severely handicapped on a number of categories already necessitating a “bump” on some other numbers to ensure that his overall rating is indicative of a number one overall pick. It just so happens that his prowess at throwing it down, along with his otherworldly athleticism, are his primary assets and a 97 rating isn't an overreaction.

The 19-year-old is expected to be the main attraction for the new-look Pelicans after the team dealt their disgruntled franchise superstar Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers for Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Lonzo Ball, and some draft choices. Along with some few veteran pieces added in and two-way point guard Jrue Holiday remaining, Williamson isn't expected to compete with a rebuilding team like most rookies as they try to make a legitimate push for the postseason despite the loaded Western Conference.
