“I’ve played NBA 2K my entire life and it’s an honor to officially join Team 2K,” Williamson said in a statement. “I’ve dreamed of being a part of the game and joining this global phenomenon, where people around the world can play as me. I’m ready to put my imprint on basketball culture and be a part of the team that represents what’s next in the sport.”

Williamson recently learned that the fine designers at 2K awarded him with an overall rating of 81 in their latest installment of NBA 2K.

“I was shocked it was even in the 80s,” Williamson told Complex, referring to his rookie rating on NBA 2K. “I thought they kinda had a thing with rookies where they would give them like a 79 and below. Seventy-nine at the highest. So I’ll be honest, when I saw 81, I was like, I can work with that.”

By most accounts, Williamson will be a fine addition to the Pelicans' roster. The 19-year-old South Carolina native made 33 appearances in his lone season with the Duke Blue Devils, racking up averages of 22.6 points on 68.0 percent shooting from the field (33.8 percent from beyond the arc), 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks in 30.0 minutes per outing.
