It wasn't too long ago when Charles Barkley blasted New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson about his weight. This time around, it's Barkley's TNT co-host Kenny Smith who's come out with some rather unsavory comments about Zion's eating habits.

Much has been made about Zion's injury woes and guys like Sir Charles and Kenny believe that this all boils down to the Pelicans star being overweight. Smith recently doubled down on Barkley's earlier comments about Zion needing to watch what he eats, and Williamson probably won't like Smith's suggestions:

“The easiest part is, he’ll figure out how to eat less,” Smith told TMZ Sports (h/t Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post). “It’s not hard, when it’s your profession. He puts the hours in to be a great basketball player. He’ll figure out those hours that he needs to keep his body right. It’s the same thing. It’s the same commitment. It’s not hard. Just eat less. It’s not hard at all for a guy who has that kind of discipline to be that great a player.

“Every player in their career is going to get hurt at some point. In that time you gotta figure out how to stay in shape and stay in a basketball body. Obviously, he’s healing, but he’s not ready to play.”

Smith has a valid point here. If Zion has the discipline to put the work in to be great in his craft, then he should also be able to put in the same amount of effort in terms of watching his weight. Needless to say, however, this is going to be easier said than done.

At the moment, the Pelicans have yet to provide a firm timetable on Zion's return to action after the 21-year-old underwent surgery on his right foot during the offseason.
