New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson, the first overall pick in this year's draft, has made his decision to agree to a shoe deal with Jordan Brand, and according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, his endorsement contract is the richest ever for an NBA freshman.

Prior to Williamson announcing his decision on social media, several shoe companies made offers on total deals that reached up to nine figures. Others have offered him up to $10 million annually, according to Woj.

Before Jordan Brand sealed the deal with Williamson, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James held the record for the richest rookie shoe deal ever.

Williamson will be joining All-Stars Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul with the Jordan Brand.

Williamson is the first rookie since LeBron to receive an insane amount of hype from the media. He is already being pegged as the next NBA poster boy, and if he lives up to the hype, he could become the best player in the league within three to five years.

The Pelicans were fortunate enough to land the first pick during the draft lottery back in May, as they were set to trade Anthony Davis. Having Williamson on the roster gives them hope that they can be a championship contender in the near future

Now, everything will depend on how fast Williamson can improve, but regardless of what happens in the first few years of his career, he is already handsomely paid through his endorsements and it's highly possible for him to become the highest paid NBA player of the future.
