New Orleans Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin is reportedly still trying to change star Anthony Davis' mind about being traded, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Griffin has a positive rapport with Davis’ agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. Paul, of course, represents LeBron James. LeBron and Griffin were together with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Pelicans GM David Griffin still has a goal of changing Anthony Davis’ mind on a trade and have him “buy into the program,’’ according to a source.

Griffin can try his best, but all signs point toward AD still wanting to be traded by the Pelicans. New Orleans is hoping Griffin can get a grand haul for Davis, who is one of the best players in the NBA when healthy.

Davis played in 56 games in 2018-19. The six-time All-Star averaged 25.9 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 51.7 percent from the field, 33.1 percent from beyond the arc and 79.4 percent from the free-throw line. Davis was booed by Pelicans fans after his trade request. The second half of the season was awkward for everyone involved with the Pelicans.

Griffin would be deemed a savior if he's somehow able to convince Davis to stay with the Pelicans. AD can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020.
