With Anthony Davis' impending free agency in 2020, there are reports that the New Orleans Pelicans are feeling the pressure of re-signing or trading their All-Star center. Zach Love, an ESPN NBA insider, predicts that Davis will be traded next summer.

New Orleans is a very small market and can’t attract big name free agents to come help Davis try and win a title. It’s time he moves on out and goes somewhere where the team around him won’t hold him back.

Zach Lowe predicts Anthony Davis will reject the supermax this summer and will thus be traded by the Pelicans with 1 year left on his deal in the summer.

The Pelicans have failed to surround Davis with enough talent in the past couple of years. His partnership with DeMarcus Cousins fell out when the latter went down with the Achilles injury and then signed with the Golden State Warriors in the offseason.

This season, the 25-year old big man is doing everything for his team. While his scoring has dipped a little with 26.6 points per game this year, Davis is also racking up 12.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists, both career-highs. He is also averaging another career-high in minutes per game with a staggering 37.8.

But unless the Pelicans pull off a miraculous deep playoff run this season, it's already safe to assume that Davis will sign with a true contender when he becomes a free agent in 2020. The Pelicans front office also knows that which is why rumors are already circulating about the possibility of trade deals that would involve the Los Angeles Lakers or the Boston Celtics.

Despite Davis' stellar averages this season, the Pelicans are just currently sporting a 10-8 record.
