The New Orleans Pelicans have reportedly been calling teams to gauge interest in point guard Jrue Holiday ahead of the trade deadline, according to Jordan Brenner of The Athletic.

Superstar big man Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the Pelicans, so New Orleans is doing their due diligence on what the trade market is like for Jrue Holiday as well.

Jrue Holiday is making $25,396,111 this season. He is owed $26,131,111 in 2019-20, $25,396,111 in 2020-21, and has a player option worth $26,285,000 for the 2021-20 season.

Holiday is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. The 28-year-old is averaging 21.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game this season for the Pelicans while shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 33.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 7. If Anthony Davis' time in The Big Easy is done by the trade deadline, then New Orleans might as well trade Jrue Holiday as well so they can embark on a full rebuild and get as many young assets as they can on the roster.

Holiday made the 2018 All-Defensive team. He's a pest on the defensive end of the floor.

Teams will surely be lining up to acquire Jrue from the Pelicans.
