The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly not actively pursuing big man Al Horford as the opening bell of free agency draws near, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

The Pelicans are not looking to sign players to four-year deals this summer. Horford is supposedly looking for a four-year contract worth in excess of $100 million after declining his 2019-20 player option with the Boston Celtics.

It's a new era in New Orleans under the leadership of David Griffin, who got a tremendous haul for Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers. The new Pelicans vice president acquired Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first round picks from the Lakers for Davis.

New Orleans, of course, selected Duke star Zion Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Pelicans also got Jaxson Hayes, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Marcos Louzada Silva in this year's draft.

Horford would have given the Pelicans a lethal Big 3 of him, Jrue Holiday and Williamson, but New Orleans wants to spend its money wisely this offseason. The Pelicans need more shooting around Williamson and Holiday. Look for Griffin to address that once free agency starts.

Some believe the Pelicans can contend for a playoff spot in 2019-20. We'll see if Zion, Holiday and the rest of the crew can accomplish that goal.
