Anthony Davis swears there was no subliminal message behind him wearing a shirt that read “That's All Folks!” to the New Orleans Pelicans' final home game of the 2018-19 season. The six-time All-Star, in fact, insists the shirt was laid out for him to wear by someone else. It was a coincidence, basically, and even if it wasn't, Davis went out of his to make sure everyone knew he wasn't throwing shade at the Pelicans after they failed to honor his trade request last February.

Regardless, it's safe to say New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry knew exactly what he was doing by evoking the Looney Tunes phrase on Saturday. Asked about the trade package his team received from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Davis, Gentry, smiling and pausing for dramatic effect, answered, “That's a haul…folks.”

Last weekend, the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, the No. 4 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, and two future first-round picks to the Pelicans in exchange for Davis. New Orleans vice president of basketball operations David Griffin then sent the fourth overall pick to the Atlanta Hawks on draft night, receiving the eighth, 17th, and 35th picks picks in return, bringing the Pelicans draft haul from the Davis trade up to a stunning four first-rounders and a high second-round pick.

It remains to be seen how Jaxson Hayes, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Marcos Louzada Silva, the players selected with the picks New Orleans received for No. 4, will fare in the NBA. There's no guarantee Ingram, Ball, and Hart will fare better with the Pelicans than they did with the Lakers, either.

As Gentry's pointed pun makes abundantly clear, however, New Orleans should be pleased with the Davis trade no matter how all of their newly-acquired players and picks turn out.
