As  Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball's rookie season has gone on, he has seemed to get more comfortable with the NBA, and his confidence has been slowly rising. Sometimes, though, too much confidence is a bad thing and it can cause someone to make a bad decision and that was the case on Thursday night when the Lakers took on Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans.

During the second quarter of the game, Ball drove the lane and tried to rise up over Davis, and it, of course, ended with a block.

Ball has had some success with his forays to the basket, especially being a threat to kick the ball out from that position. That probably would have been the best play there.

Davis is one of the best shot blockers in the NBA and there was no chance that he was going to let a rookie dunk all over him.

For Ball, he has missed some time with injury this year which has hampered his development but he has already taken some big steps forward in the 48 games he has played. In those games, he is averaging 10.1 points, 7.1 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Although the chances are low for the Lakers to make the playoffs this year, they have shown with their young guys just exactly how exciting this team might be in the years to come, especially if they are able to add a big-name free agent.

For now, Ball needs to try and not get embarrassed at the rim again like he did at the hands of Davis.
