New Orleans Pelicans star power forward Anthony Davis could be heading out of town soon on a permanent leave of absence. Until then, however, he is bolstering his teammates and coaches from the bench.

Davis, 25, will likely be sidelined for at least another week, after spraining his left index finger on Jan. 18 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The five-time NBA All-Star has been the talk of the league recently for reportedly requesting a trade out of New Orleans early Monday morning.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Davis could sign a 5-year, $240M contract extension this summer, and can become a free agent in the summer of 2020. Though his coveted destination is looking to be the Los Angeles Lakers at this time, teams around the league will be lining up to throw anything the Pelicans' way in hopes of attaining the former No. 1 overall pick, either on or before the Feb. 7 deadline.

The NBA fined Davis $50,000 on Tuesday for the public trade demand made by his agent Rich Paul.

“Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship, Paul told Wojnarowski.”

Anthony Davis is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in his seventh season.
