New Orleans Pelicans superstar power forward Anthony Davis and L.A. Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley are both from Chicago. They go way back and love to compete against each other on the basketball floor.

That's why it came as no surprise when Patrick Beverley, who is only 6-foot-1, started trash talking Anthony Davis after he forced the Pelicans star to take a tough shot from the right corner.

As everyone knows, Beverley isn't afraid of anyone in the league and takes pride in his defense. He also loves to talk smack and it makes for some entertaining television.

Anthony Davis and the Pelicans defeated Patrick Beverley and the Clippers Tuesday night at home, winning by a final score of 116-109. New Orleans is now 3-0 on the season — their best start since 2010 — while L.A. dropped to 2-2.

Davis had another monster night. The Brow finished with 34 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 11-of-21 from the field, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and 10-of-15 from the free-throw line. Davis also registered five blocks.

Beverley, meanwhile, posted 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor. The rugged defender also grabbed an impressive 10 rebounds and was two assists shy of racking up a triple-double. Beverley just continues to show he is one of the most underrated players in the NBA.
