The New Orleans Pelicans, with the young core they have, needs a veteran to guide the players and lead the locker room. And for Executive Vice President David Griffin, the perfect person to fill that spot is none other than Vince Carter.

Griffin, in fact, really wanted to bring Carter to New Orleans that he recruited him live on a recent episode of ESPN's The Jump.

Griffin said that the Pelicans need a leader on their team and that he's hoping that Carter would eventually agree to sign with them. The veteran executive didn't promise significant minutes to the 20-year veteran, but he said that he will play a key role with the team next season.

Carter has served as the veteran leader for a young team since 2014 when he joined the Memphis Grizzlies who were trying to win a championship. He stayed with that team for three years before joining the Sacramento Kings in 2017 and recently the Atlanta Hawks last season. During that span, Vinsanity's minutes averaged around 17-24 per season.

If Carter joins the Pelicans, he will create a logjam at the small forward position that already has Brandon Ingram and JJ Redick, which is why Griffin didn't promise that he could have the same number of minutes he had with his previous teams.

Moreover, the Pelicans are not really contending for a championship, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Carter doesn't end up in New Orleans.
