While no fans were permitted to watch the NBA bubble games live on Thursday, several New Orleans Pelicans “virtual fans” couldn't help but wince after Brandon Ingram missed a potential game-winner against the Utah Jazz.

Ben Golliver of the Washington Post captured the reaction in real-time as Ingram's shot felt short, allowing Utah to escape with a mighty 106-104 comeback win.

The NBA approved 320 fans who will join the action live via a video conference call during live games. Each of the 22 teams has pre-approved fans, who will get to support their team during their supposed home games inside the ESPN World Wide Sports Complex.

The fans are seen in virtual stands and are visible on giant screens surrounding the court, akin to how fans were seated for the games live prior to the pandemic.

These fans are also expected to be in their best behavior and could be ejected from the call any time.

Brandon Ingram, meanwhile, still poured in 23 points (7-for-20 FG) and eight rebounds in 33 minutes. The Pelicans dropped to 28-37, while the Jazz improved to 42-23.
