For the second time in their series against the New York Rangers, the Pittsburgh Penguins have managed to find the back of the net at least four times after destroying the Rangers in a 7-4 Game 3 victory at home Saturday night. New York netminder Igor Shesterkin, widely considered the best goalie this season, was broken down by the Penguins, who scored four goals right out of the gate to go up 4-1 at the end of the first period.

There's something on the road that appears to be bothering Shesterkin of late. According to Sportsnet Stats, Shesterkin's body of work over his last seven starts away from Madison Square Garden is tattered with uncharacteristically horrendous performances.

Shesterkin had to be pulled by the Rangers in the second period of Game 3, as they instead opted to go with
Alexandar Georgiev. The backup fared a lot better than Shesterkin, stopping all but a shot out of the 20 he faced the rest of the way.

Penguins centers Evan Rodrigues and Jeff Carter had a field day on offense, as each finished the game with two goals. Rodrigues also had an assist to come away with second-star honors. Shesterkin's issues in the series might have nothing to do at all with location. It's just that the Penguins seem to have his number. Back in New York's Game 1's 4-1 overtime loss, the Rangers played at home but Shesterkin allowed three goals in the second period.

Shesterkin remains to be the Rangers' best player, but he'll have to start getting it together with another game in Pittsburgh coming up on Monday. It's probably not helping his confidence that the Penguins don't have their top two options between the pipes so far in the series with Tristan Jarry (lower-body injury) and Casey DeSmith (core muscle surgery) dealing with injuries.
