Phil Jackson says Knicks roster is “hand-picked”

Just a few days ago, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson made headlines giving his thoughts about today’s players.

In his remarks, he expressed his own observations that the players can’t grasp the triangle offense due to poor fundamentals.

Jackson recently appeared as a guest on Shaquille O’neal’s podcast show going into further detail.

In that interview, according Newsday’s Al Iannazzone, Jackson said he “hand-picked” this season’s roster.

He cited many of the former Knicks players were part of the old regime, and it needed a change.

We talked about, in our initial meeting last Monday, about the fact that this is all hand-picked.¬†This is a hand-picked team. They all fit together in a way in which — we haven’t had this opportunity since I’ve been in New York.

Once the Knicks had enough cap space to pursue other players, Jackson took the opportunity and signed Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Courtney Lee.

He also hired Jeff Hornacek when many thought he would hire Kurt Rambis or take on the job himself.
