With all the trade rumors that surrounded Carmelo Anthony throughout this past season, it left many to believe that the New York Knicks are ready to move past him and hand over the franchise player label to their promising big man, Kristaps Porzingis.

However, Phil Jackson reportedly is not ruling out the possibility of the 7-foot-3 Latvian international to be moved out of New York this offseason, especially after receiving calls inquiring about his availability. The 71-year-old team president discussed, via Ian Begley of ESPN, why he would consider trading Porzingis, and what it could potentially bring to the Knicks.

“The future, you know, what it brings. Does it bring us two starters and a draft pick or something that's even beyond that? [That's] something we have to look at as far as going down the road.”

The development does come as a surprise to the team’s fans, as Porzingis has had two solid seasons so far in the NBA. He has turned many Knicks fans into believers after receiving plenty of boos upon being drafted.

This summer will be an interesting one for the Knicks, as they face a number of important decisions to make involving their key players. Following another disappointing season, Jackson is starting to feel the pressure of winning, as they once again failed to make a postseason appearance, even with the addition of Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Courtney Lee a year ago.

Should they ultimately trade Porzingis, it would signify their intent to revamp the entire roster, rebuild completely, and hope that they get lucky in the draft for the next couple of years.
