In an attempt to bolster their roster and add some veteran experience to an incredibly young team, the Philadelphia 76ers have re-signed 37-year old NBA journeyman Elton Brand ahead of the 2016-2017 season.

As first reported by The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the forward agreed to terms with the Sixers to return on a one-year contract.

The franchise announced the deal via their official website on Wednesday.

Brand struck a deal last January to head to the City Of Brotherly Love shortly after Jerry Colangelo tooks over as the team’s chairman. Upon signing, the Brand, a two-time All-Star, found himself surrounded by a depleted roster amidst an apparent losing culture.

Many believe the fortunes of the franchise are on the upswing, as they recently drafted highly regarded prospect Ben Simmons. He will be joined by Croatian forward Dario Saric, as well as a final healthy Joel Embiid.

While the young talent may take the franchise in a positive direction with the view of contending in the future, the guidance that Brand will offer may be essential in the locker room.

Brand appeared in 17 games for Philadelphia last year, averaging 4.1 points and 3.7 rebounds.
