The Philadelphia Eagles had a much better year than most fans expected. With a first-year head coach and first-year starting quarterback, this was very much a rebuilding year. Despite the low expectations, the Eagles ended the regular season with a winning record of 9-8 and a short playoff run.

This offseason, Philadelphia has a lot of room to make changes to continue its rebuilding process. They have three first-round draft picks and a decent amount of cap space to capitalize on to fill gaps throughout the roster. That being said, here are the top three free agents that the Eagles should consider during the 2022 NFL Offseason.

Eagles Free Agent Targets for 2022 NFL Offseason

3. Jadeveon Clowney – Defensive End

Brandon Graham is one of the Eagles' oldest and most experienced players on the roster. He is one of the few players on the team that won the Super Bowl with Philadelphia back in 2018, and has been a solid edge rusher for the Birds since being drafted in 2010.

However, Graham's age is catching up to him, making him more prone to injury than ever before. He spent most of the 2021-2022 season on Injured Reserve after suffering a torn Achilles in Week 2.

It's time for the Eagles to move on and find a new defensive end to take over as the team's top edge rusher, and Jadeveon Clowney is the perfect fit. The Cleveland Browns free agent is five years younger than Graham. Pro Football Focus highlights edge rushing and interior pass rushing as two of the defensive ends' main strengths.

2. Mike Gesicki – Tight End

The Eagles began the 2021 season with two solid tight ends in Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Ertz was traded to the Arizona Cardinals early in the season, leaving Goedert as the Eagles' sole starting tight end.

Though he has been pretty solid for the Birds this season, they could definitely use some help in this portion of the roster. Goedert has made some pretty remarkable catches and plays for the Eagles offense, but he has also had some unforgivable drops and mistakes. If the Eagles signed Mike Gesicki of the Miami Dolphins for a few years, some of the pressure would be taken off of Goedert, and he would be less likely to fold in crucial situations.

Gesicki is known for his ability to compete in contested catches, as well as his balls skills under pressure, according to Pro Football Focus. These skills would be extremely beneficial for the Eagles and their young quarterback.

1. Mike Williams – Wide Receiver

The Eagles were fortunate to draft Heisman Trophy winner and star wide receiver DeVonta Smith in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The rookie receiver had a breakout season for the Birds with 916 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

However, many fans fear that Smith's size could result in an injury if he is overused. Although he is 6 feet tall, the wide receiver is only 170 lbs. That being said, the Eagles could greatly benefit from the acquisition of a larger wide receiver like Mike Williams of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Pro Football Focus reports that Williams is known for his size, as well as his ability to win contested catches. Williams has four inches and 38 lbs on Smith, making the pair a perfect receiving duo.

All of the players that the Eagles bring in from the 2022 Free Agency should be young enough to work with the rebuild but experienced enough to bring established skills to the team. These three are perfect candidates to help the Eagles find success in the near future.
