Philadelphia Phillies star Kyle Schwarber showed off his power on Wednesday. And in the process, he accomplished something even the best to suit up for the Phillies haven't accomplished.

Schwarber's first home run on the night was his 26th through his first 80 games. This mark ties him with Raúl Ibañez for the most home runs in team history through a player's first 80 games with the franchise.

The 29-year-old went deep again, breaking Ibañez's total with his 27th homer in 80 games. That marked his second-consecutive multi-home run game, a feat last accomplished by Chase Utley in 2006.

Despite his prolific power output, the outfielder told reporters that hitting home runs isn't his approach.

“I just always go back to the process,” Schwarber said. “They're just happening to go out of the park. It's not like I'm going up there trying to hit a home run.”

Schwarber's two homers were not enough for victory, however. The Phillies lost to the Washington Nationals 3-2 on the strength of Josiah Gray's career-high 11 strikeouts.

The 29-year-old has swatted 16 home runs since June 1, a remarkable pace. And it's a pace that makes his acquisition seem like a bargain at this point.

Schwarber signed a four-year, $79 million contract with the Phillies in March. He had split the 2021 season with the Nationals and Boston Red Sox.

His numbers are more impressive when you consider this comparison shared on Twitter. Kris Bryant, Carlos Correa, and Corey Seager earned north of $600M combined on their respective contracts. And yet, combined, the three players have hit 26 home runs.

The former World Series champion is on pace to destroy Phillies' team records for home runs. And there are no signs of him slowing down soon.
