The Pittsburgh Pirates will have a new face on the roster on Monday, and it'll be impossible not to take notice of him. The Pirates made a massive move on Sunday, announcing the decision to promote top prospect Oneil Cruz to the MLB roster ahead of their four-game series against the Chicago Cubs. We say massive in the literal sense, as Cruz stands in at a staggering 6-foot-7, putting him at even height with Yankees mammoth slugger Aaron Judge.

Pirates fans will finally get an extended look at the prized farmhand, who ranks as the No. 22 overall prospect in all of baseball, and the third-highest rated prospect in Pittsburgh's minor-league system, per MLB Pipeline. At 6-foot-7, Cruz will be the tallest shortstop in baseball, and it's not particularly close.

This season at Triple-A, Cruz was slashing .232/.336/.422 with 9 home runs and 35 RBI. With Kevin Newman sidelined and the recent injury to Tucupita Mercano, the Pirates have elected to bring Cruz up for another taste of MLB action. He made his MLB debut last year for the Pirates, featuring in a total of two games.

He'll get a longer chance to show his stuff at the MLB level this time around, and fans will be enamored with his massive frame in the infield grass, where he'll stick out like a sore thumb due to his height.

Cruz boasts a terrific arm and a powerful bat, both of which Pirates fans will be eager to see in his return to the big-league roster.
