Finishing just short of the postseason, the Detroit Pistons will be part of the NBA Draft Lottery. But since the Pistons were very close to making the playoffs, they most likely won't receive a high draft pick due to the odds of the selection process.

However, if the Pistons do get a high pick, they reportedly will consider selecting UCLA star guard Lonzo Ball. This is despite the fact that LaVar Ball will likely be a loud and vocal presence in Detroit if Lonzo ends up with the Pistons.

From Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press:

With long NBA draft lottery odds, the Detroit Pistons – projected to land the No. 12 pick – likely won't have to make a decision on coveted UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball.

But if the Pistons are lucky and land in the top 3 of June's draft in Tuesday's draft lottery, Ball would not be disqualified because of his controversial father, LaVar.

The Pistons – just like most NBA teams – would select Lonzo Ball because of his talent and, by all accounts, he is considered a good teammate.

This makes sense. Despite LaVar's penchant for making headlines, the younger Ball is a unique talent who could potentially transform any team that drafts him, including the Pistons.
