Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond drinks a beer per day to ensure necessary caloric intake.

Drummond eliminated red meat from his diet, so he has to get calories from somewhere.

To ensure the necessary caloric intake, he drinks a beer per day. He was drawn to Miller Lite because, well, that’s what his personal chef bought.

“If you do it the right way, it’s actually not bad for you and that’s why I’m doing it,” Drummond said with a laugh.

The Pistons will need another All-Star campaign from Andre Drummond next season. In a wide-open Eastern Conference, the Pistons could be a No. 5 or 6 seed depending on how things play out at the top.

Last season, Drummond averaged 17.3 points, 15.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.7 blocks while shooting 53.3 percent from the field, 13.2 percent from beyond the arc and 59.0 percent from the free-throw line. The Pistons made the playoffs, but got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first-round.

Detroit had a productive offseason. The Pistons signed former MVP Derrick Rose, small forward Markieff Morris and veteran point guard Tim Frazier. Drummond worked out with Rose in Las Vegas in July. The big man said Rose looked good. Rose averaged 18.0 points per game for the Minnesota Timberwolves last season.

The Pistons are going to go as far as Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond can take them. The two All-Stars will try and lead Detroit to a series win in the postseason in 2019-20.
