Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond could achieve an incredible feat that only Moses Malone has done in the past 40 years.

According to former Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy — as noted by Keith Langlois of Pistons.com — Andre Drummond is on pace to become only the first player since Moses Malone to average 15-plus points and 15-plus rebounds in two straight seasons.

Drummond is currently averaging 18.7 points and 16.0 boards per game. He also leads the league with the most 20-20 performances this year, already tallying six of such stat line through the 18 matches he played in.

Last season, the All-Star big man played in 78 games and put up 15.0 points and 16.0 rebounds on a nightly basis.

On the other hand, Malone had back-to-back 15-15 seasons during his stint with the Houston Rockets. Malone averaged 19.4 points and 15.0 rebounds in 1977-78 and followed it up with a campaign that saw him record 24.8 points and 17.4 boards per game.

The Pistons are currently one of the early playoff contenders in the Eastern Conference, and Drummond has been a huge part of that success.

Only time will tell if Drummond can match Malone’s amazing record. However, if the Detroit big man can remain healthy, it’s likely that he’ll be able to do it and establish his name as one of the best bigs in league history.
