Detroit Pistons star power forward Blake Griffin practiced on Thursday after missing the first two days of training camp with the flu. The All-Star got to play with Derrick Rose for the first time and liked what he saw from the former MVP.

Rose signed a two-year deal with the Pistons in free agency. He will back up Reggie Jackson at the point guard spot.

“D-Rose takes everything to another level speed wise,” Griffin said, via Pistons.com. “His cuts, his up and down, passes, the way he reads the game. He’s going to be great for us.”

Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Derrick Rose averaged 18.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. The Chicago native shot 48.2 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from beyond the arc, 85.6 percent from the free-throw line and scored a career-high 50 points on Halloween against the Utah Jazz.

Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond figure to get more easy looks at the basket playing with Rose, who remains one of the best drivers in the league despite undergoing four knee surgeries.

The Pistons averaged 107.0 points per game in 2018-19, which ranked 25th in the league. With Rose in the fold, Detroit should be more explosive on offense this upcoming season.
