Blake Griffin of the Detroit Pistons protected head coach Dwane Casey and took a jab at the Toronto Raptors at the same time.

Right after their win over the Raptors, Casey's former team, Griffin said that his coach's ability to draw up excellent plays isn't new to them, hinting that the Raptors may have taken this for granted.

The Pistons got a win, 106-104, thanks to a game winner by Reggie Bullock. Check out the clip below as posted by Bleacher Report. As observed, the Raptors were able to disrupt the initial alley-oop play. However, they weren't fortunate enough in stopping the Pistons' second shot at a game-winner.

Casey spent seven seasons as the Raptors' head coach. He guided them to stellar regular seasons including a franchise-record 59 wins last year. He also paved the way for multiple playoff appearances and made it as far as the Eastern Conference Finals back in 2016. Last year, he won the NBA's Coach of the Year award after being fired by the Raptors.

To start off the season, Blake Griffin and the Pistons have a 7-6 record. Time will only tell if Casey can replicate or even improve his success with the Pistons. But early in the season, it looks like he's getting the hang of his new team.
