The Detroit Pistons and L.A. Clippers came together for a blockbuster trade on Monday. The Pistons received All-Star power forward Blake Griffin, forward Brice Johnson, and center Willie Reed from the Clippers. In return, the Pistons sent Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, as well as a first and second-round pick to the Clippers.

“We’re pleased to welcome Blake Griffin, Willie Reed and Brice Johnson to the Detroit Pistons,” Pistons president/coach Stan Van Gundy said. “Blake has been an All-NBA performer, he’s a five-time All-Star and a player that commands attention whenever he’s on the floor. His presence will help us offensively and his size gives us another rebounder and weapon in the paint.”

“Willie Reed and Brice Johnson are two young players that give us size and depth,” Van Gundy added.

Though this is intriguing news for Pistons fans, Griffin (as well as the other players traded) will not be available for Tuesday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Rod Beard of The Detroit News.

Griffin, now 28 years of age, holds career averages of 21.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. In his 33 appearances with the Clippers this season, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 Draft has turned in averages of 22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per outing.

The Pistons, now 22-26 overall and fourth in the Central Division, are still struggling to find a rhythm. They've lost eight straight games, which includes their set-back against the Cavs in Cleveland on Sunday. Needless to say, they'll be looking for improvement.

Tuesday night's game is set to tip at 8:00 p.m. EST inside Little Caesars Arena with TNT having broadcast coverage.
