The sudden departure of Blake Griffin from the L.A. Clippers is very tough for Clipper Nation – particularly to this fan.

Seeing that Griffin is more than happy to have the transition with the Detroit Pistons could make it worse than it already is. The 28-year-old arrived at his new city yesterday and was sounding exuberant.

“This franchise has a history of tough, hard-working teams… That's how I was raised, that's my principle, so being here is an awesome opportunity.

I've been in the league now [for] seven years. It's my eighth year. I've been fortunate enough to play with a lot of really good players, and learn from them. So, hopefully [I bring] a little bit of veteran leadership.. [I plan on] stirring this team into the right direction, helping lay the foundation, helping the young guys.

We're gonna be hard-nosed team. We're gonna play really, really hard. I'm incredibly excited. I love this fan base. The energy has been awesome already in just 24 hours, so I'm super happy to be here.”

There are some concerns on spacing since Griffin and Andre Drummond are both operating within the paint, but if they make things work, there's no telling how much noise Detroit can make in the Eastern Conference.

The Pistons faithful, whose home attendance is on the bottom six in each of the last seven seasons (currently 24th), should move several spots higher now that a new star is on the roster.

The ninth-seeded Pistons (23-26) will return to action on Thursday when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies. Griffin can be expected to make his team debut on the game.
