The Detroit Pistons are hoping to have a better showing next season after they stumbled into the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference standings during their 2018-19 campaign. Although they were swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs, the players are optimistic that they are in the right track.

Pistons legend Chauncey Billups feels the same way too. In fact, he told Detroit Free Press' Vince Ellis in an interview that the Pistons got better by adding some pieces during the offseason. Mr. Big Shot added that he hopes for Detroit to have another shot at the playoffs next season.

“Continuity can be a good thing, just add some pieces here and there. I need to see how it all works together, but we’ll see because teams got a lot better. I can’t tell you the Pistons are one of those teams that got a lot better — maybe a little better. Obviously, I’m hoping that the Pistons will jump out there and kick a lot of butt because I’m tired of people talking stuff to me about my Pistons.”

The Pistons are eager to build a championship roster around All-Star forward Blake Griffin. They already have solid pieces in Andre Drummond, Reggie Jackson, and former league MVP Derrick Rose, whom they signed to a two-year deal.

Still, Detroit isn't seen as a championship contender next season. They aren't even viewed as a powerhouse in the East. But if they do things the right way, who knows what they could accomplish within the next couple of years?

But if there's one person who believes that the Pistons be at the top of the NBA soon, it's Billups.
