Detroit Pistons center Christian Wood has tested positive for the coronavirus. The news came out on Saturday.

In some more troubling news, though, per Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Wood reported flu-like symptoms the morning of the Pistons' game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

The incubation period for the virus is two weeks, so the disease can take two weeks to appear. The entire Pistons and Sixers team should be getting tested.

Wood becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. He's been a monster for the Pistons since Detroit sent Andre Drummond to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the trade deadline.

In 62 games for the Pistons before the NBA suspended the season, Wood was averaging 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 56.7 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc and 74.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pistons were headed for the lottery after making the playoffs last season for the first time since 2016. The development of Wood was one of the bright spots for Detroit in 2019-20, as was the play of former MVP Derrick Rose, who led the team in scoring at 18.1 points per game.

No one knows when — or if — the NBA season is going to start up again. It sucks to say this, but there are probably going to be more players who get positive test results since this virus spreads so deceptively.
