Detroit Pistons big man Christian Wood becomes the third NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

As Shams noted, Wood and the Pistons faced Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz last Saturday, March 8 — four days before Gobert became the first player to test positive for the infectious diseases.

Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell was also infected by the virus, but Wood's case is the first positive test detected in the NBA outside the Salt Lake City franchise.

According to Charania, however, Wood has shown no symptoms and is currently doing well despite the latest diagnosis.

The NBA has suspended the season indefinitely after the first case, and they continue to work on preventive measures to stop the coronavirus from further spreading.

The Toronto Raptors, who faced the Jazz after the Pistons, have already announced that all their players tested negative for the virus. It remains to be seen though if that is also the case for the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics who played Utah in the previous 10 days before the detection.

It is still unknown as well if Christian Wood is the only Pistons player infected, but the team is expected to take extra measures to protect its players. Previously, the NBA has warned all the players and the teams that faced Gobert and the Jazz to self-quarantine until they are sure to be safe from the deadly COVID-19.
