Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose will miss Monday night's home matchup with Central Division rivals Cleveland Cavaliers due to knee soreness.

Pistons veteran wing Tony Snell will also miss Monday's contest with an illness.

Rose's absence marks the seventh game he has missed during the 2019-20 season, his first year in the Motor City after a one-plus-season stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The former Most Valuable Player with the Chicago Bulls signed as a free agent last summer with the Pistons to the tune of a two-year, $15 million deal.

So far, Rose has shown his value for the Pistons primarily as their backup point guard.

In 41 games this season, Rose has averaged 18.8 points and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from 3-point range this season. He has established himself as one of the best bench players this year and possibly a candidate for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award.

In missing Monday's bout versus the Cavs, Rose will snap a streak of 12 consecutive 20-plus-point games for the Pistons, although he can continue the personal accomplishment should he be healthy to play for Detroit on Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets.

Due to Derrick Rose's promising on-court performance this season, along with the Pistons' overall implosion, many believe Detroit will deal the former first-overall pick by the NBA's trade deadline on Feb. 6.

The Pistons have already been rumored to be looking to trade center Andre Drummond, a two-time All-Star. They also had been in talks around the league to deal power forward Blake Griffin before the former Los Angeles Clippers All-Star went down with a likely season-ending knee injury requiring surgery.
