After the Chicago Bulls defeated the Detroit Pistons on Friday at the United Center, Bulls head coach Jim Boylen had high praise for Pistons point guard Derrick Rose.

Boylen said Rose is as tough a cover as there is in the league right now. The former MVP put on a show for his hometown crowd on Friday, as Rose finished with 23 points, seven assists and three steals.

When told about Boylen's comments, Rose reacted this way:

“Wow,” Rose said when relayed that assessment, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “I feel I’ve been doing the same thing for the last three or four years. It was going unnoticed. I’m still playing the same way. The only thing changes is I’m knocking down jumpers now and I’m a little bit older.”

Rose averaged 18.0 points per game with the New York Knicks during the 2016-17 season. However, since the Knicks were terrible, Rose's play went unnoticed.

Through the Pistons' first six games, Rose is putting up 20.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists while shooting 56.2 percent from the field and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Chicago native is playing 25.0 minutes per game, as Pistons coach Dwane Casey still has D-Rose on a minutes restriction.

If Rose keeps up this level of play, he has a good chance of making the All-Star team. The All-Star game is in Chicago this season. It would be a cool scene to see Rose play in his hometown again at All-Star weekend.
