Three years removed from his last stint with the  Chicago Bulls and the whole Windy City still has nothing but love for Derrick Rose.

The hometown hero returned to the United Center on Friday, bringing up a lot of nostalgia as he scored 23 points to go along with seven assists and three steals in the Detroit Pistons’ 106-112 defeat.

Rose, who has been an inspiration to basketball fans everywhere after overcoming career-threatening injuries, was showered with love every time he handled the rock in Chicago.

The youngest MVP in league history took some time off after the game and talked about the heartwarming reception he received in Chicago.

“It put me back in the state of mind of reminiscing. I remember those days. I had Joakim in the building. And it’s kind of crazy that I’m on the court and he’s up there with his kid. It’s great to see just being here. It’s like a reunion when I come back here,” Derrick Rose said, per Bulls Insider K.C. Johnson.

The Bulls outworked the Pistons down the stretch, as Zach Lavine and Otto Porter Jr. led the way with 26 and 22 points, respectively. Rose admitted he would have wanted come up win a win, but he was happy to be able to reminisce about the magical run he had with the team.

“I wish we would’ve got the win,” Rose said. “But I felt the love out there. Coming here is always special. Playing here all those years was special. I kind of admit I didn’t cherish the moments that I was supposed to. But you live and you learn. Feeling that energy tonight, it was something to hold on to, for sure.”
